Dublin-born coloratura soprano Donna Gallagher is one Ireland's up-and-coming talents. She most recently played Princess Lenore in Many Moons (Celius Dougherty) in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This year, she has also played the Queen of the Night (Mozart, The Magic Flute)in Dublin for 'Opera in the Open', and Norina (Don Pasquale, Donizetti) in Italy as part of the Tuscia Opera Festival. She has become a regular performer on the stage throughout the country. Other roles include Yum-Yum in The Mikado, Clorinda in Rossini’s La Cenerentola, Susanna and Barbarina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Nella and Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi. She also got the opportunity to play Rosina in excerpts from The Barber of Seville (Rossini) in Portugal, as part of the Estoril Festival (August 2007). In Dublin, she often enjoys performing on the concert stage, including several times in the National Concert Hall where she sang in Unchained Melody and played Jenny Lind in The Life and Times of Stephan Foster. Donna completed her Bachelor of Music Performance in the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama (First Class Honours) where she studied voice with Mary Brennan and Trudi Carberry. Other teachers include Susan McCulloch (London). Donna has been lucky enough to participate in masterclasses with top professional singers including Montserrat Caballe, Barbara Bonney and Dennis O'Neill. She is presently studying for her Masters in Vocal Performance in the prestigious Petrie School of Music in Converse College, South Carolina with Rebecca Turner.
